Our Story.  A Family Affair.

Henry Kraus founder of LatexpedicIt all began in 1964, when Mr. Henry Kraus started a business manufacturing adjustable beds and adjustable bed mattresses. 

Electropedic soon became one of the Leaders in its field.

Henry Kraus two sons, Philip and Lloyd Kraus, entered the business in the mid 1970's.

During a business trip through Europe in 1987, Henry Kraus stayed at a small hotel in Switzerland.  There he discovered one of the most comfortable mattresses he had ever encountered.  This came as quite a surprise to him, as he had already been in the business of sleep products for some years; and had experienced something very important:  He woke up without his usual back pain (Henry Kraus had back surgery about two decades earlier).

Henry Kraus decided he had to stay another night:  Just to see if it was "this mattress" that helped him wake up without any back pain.

Once again he woke up refreshed and without back pain.

This mattress had made such an impression upon him that he could not just let it go.  He decided to make a special trip back to this same hotel and find out more about this mattress.  He found out that this was a Latex Mattress; and actually they were quite common in Europe.

Henry Kraus decided that he would have to do his research, and offer this same type of mattress for his adjustable bed customers.  He learned about a new industry.  Henry Kraus became the manufacturer of the Latexpedic Mattress.

For the past 30 years, the Latexpedic Mattresses have provided our clients with this same superior comfort and support.  We understand that the most important consideration for "a good night's sleep" is to wake up healthy, without any back or hip pain.

Many new models have been made over the years:

In 1987, our first mattress was the 7" Latex Mattress.  This mattress was designed by Henry Kraus.  It is still in production!  It was our only Latex Mattress for the first 14 years.

In 2001, our second mattress was introduced, and is still our best seller:  the 9" High Profile.  This mattress was designed by Henry Kraus' first son, Philip Kraus (shown right in pic).  The mattress is layered on both sides with 1" of Softer latex, and has a 6" Firmer latex center core.  This is for sure our most successful mattress.

Today, Philip Kraus's two sons, Paul and Ryan, are in charge of the pillow division.

In 2012, our third mattress was introduced:  11" THE ULTIMATE.  This mattress was designed by Henry Kraus' second son, Lloyd Kraus (shown left in pic).  This mattress is layered on both sides with 2" of Softer Latex, with a 6" Firmer latex core in the middle.

In 2019, our fourth mattress was introduced, the 12" Whole-Mattress.  This mattress was designed by Lloyd Kraus' wife, Tima Kraus, who also has a lot of back and hip pain issues.  This mattress has a 6" pocketed coil system in the middle, and is surrounded on both sides with 3" of Certified Organic Latex and Certified Organic Cotton & Wool Quilting. 

Lloyd Kraus' son, Zachary Kraus, is geared to take over as head of Latexpedic Mattresses in May, 2025.

Continuing a Family Tradition of "Old Fashioned" Quality and Craftsmanship, each Latexpedic Mattress is still made the same way as the Founder, Henry Kraus, made them over 40 years ago:
